There was an outside chance that the Alabama Crimson Tide were going to pull out a miracle win over Georgia, but a boneheaded foul turned that chance into zero.
With just over two minutes to go, No. 2 Georgia was set for a third-and-2 on its own end of the field, but Alabama defensive back Dijon Lee committed an unacceptable penalty.

Lee grabbed a Bulldog by his jersey and hit him with an open hand in the face twice. Lee was flagged, giving the Bulldogs an automatic first down. Alabama had no timeouts remaining, and Georgia was able to kneel out the clock Saturday.

Safe to say, Kalen DeBoer was not happy.
When Lee reached the sideline , an irate DeBoer gave the player much more than an earful, and it appeared the coach told Lee that he “just cost us the d— game.”
At first, Lee wanted no part of DeBoer’s message, but he ultimately didn’t have much of a choice.

DeBoer had already been pushed to the brink — or so everyone thought — a couple of plays earlier. With just over three minutes to go, Alabama was looking for a score, and Georgia may have gotten away with defensive pass interference in the end zone.

The next play, quarterback Keelon Russell was sacked out of field goal range, taking away any chance for the Crimson Tide to tie the game at 20 late. Thus, Alabama punted, and it never got the ball back.

Thus, Georgia handed the Crimson Tide its first loss of the season, as the Bulldogs moved to 6-0.
