Jalen Duren spent a lot of the offseason in contract negotiations. That is behind him, and he can work to build on a season where he averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He did not face the Knicks last season, so we can’t really compare what he did against Mitchell Robinson. However, in three games against the Knicks with Robinson as his primary defender, he has averaged just 10 points per game.

Tyrese Maxey over 4.5 assists
The 76ers point guard is primarily a scorer, but with weapons all around him, expect Philadelphia to ask him to do less scoring and more facilitating. It will be someone different’s night each night. Jalen Brunson isn’t exactly a good defender, and the Knicks won’t be able to switch as much as they did in the postseason against him. Maxey had 6.6 assists per game last season with a worse supporting cast. He is averaging 4.3 assists per game against the Knicks in his career, but this is a bet on him having more help than normal.

Chet Holmgren over 13.5 points
The last time we saw Holmgren, he was a shell of himself against this same Spurs team. We’ve heard for years that Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama would be the battle of the future. So far, that battle has been one-sided. Expect the Thunder to get him involved in the offense early. This should be a game where they specifically try to get him ready for future matchups against the Spurs.
