Adelaide great Taylor Walker is undecided over extending his career into a 19th AFL season.
But Walker, whose contract with the Crows expires at the end of the current campaign, expects he’ll soon have an inkling.
“I’ll get a sense myself at some stage,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Walker said his 36-year-old body was “good … going really well”.
“I have had a bit of an interrupted sort of last month, six weeks, so body’s feeling great … life’s good for me at the moment,” he said.
Walker has played nine of Adelaide’s 15 games, recently missing three matches due to a hamstring strain, followed by a one-game suspension three weeks ago.
The stop-start nature of his season could be a blessing in disguise, he said.
“I have looked at it that way a little bit, to be honest, that I haven’t had to have some planned rest,” Walker said.
“Obviously, the suspension, my hamstring … I actually feel the best I’ve felt for a long time.
“So just keep trying to keep the body healthy and the mind healthy and those two things are the most important things.
“So we’ll just keep chipping away at each game and continue to enjoy it.”
Adelaide hold fifth spot with nine wins and five losses ahead of meeting arch rival Port Adelaide on Saturday night.
Walker was reluctant to rate the Crows’ current depth as the best in his decorated 310-game career.
“It’s a good position to be in as a footy club,” he said.
“(Coach Matthew Nicks) Nicksy, well, he doesn’t have hair, but he’d be pulling it out at the moment to try and pick a side, the best side on Saturday night.
“We have got pressure on for spots, which then creates internal competition, so then it brings out the best in each individual to get a great team success.”
