A confrontation between a food influencer and a couple outside a coffee shop in San Francisco has gone viral this week after the content creator shared the footage online to her 162,000 followers.
On Tuesday afternoon, foodie Allie Tong was filming a video with her assistant outside Wrecking Ball Coffee when a nearby couple became irritated with the influencer.
According to Tong, an older man muttered, “you guys are so f…ing stupid” at her assistant, which made Tong walk back to the man and ask what he said.
The man then repeated his insult, despite Tong stating she and her assistant were supporting a small local business.
The confrontation escalated so Tong’s assistant began filming the man, “because he was being verbally abusive”.
At the beginning of the video, the camera panned over to the couple drinking their coffee, when the woman from the pair suddenly lunged at the assistant to seemingly knock the camera away.
“Don’t touch me!” “What’s wrong with you?” the two can be heard exchanging.
The woman then stormed toward the assistant, who began walking backward with a coffee in hand.
“I was just filming because he was making us feel uncomfortable,” the assistant can be heard trying to explain to the furious woman.
“Get off of me,” the assistant can then be heard repeating.
“Take that recording and delete it,” the woman demanded.
Later, the woman can be seen with the assistant’s sunglasses in hand as the couple attempted to leave the scene.
The man then uttered another insult while walking away.
“You want this?” the angry woman taunted before leaving with the glasses.
The woman then encouraged Tong and her assistant to call the police if they wanted the sunglasses returned.
The clip garnered tens of thousands of views, and Wrecking Ball Coffee swiftly banned the couple from their shop.
In a follow up video about the incident, Tong commended the team from Wrecking Ball Coffee and told her fans to support the business as “they had nothing to do with it”.
“I don’t think this kind of behaviour should be brushed off or normalized,” Tong wrote of her decision to share the video.
“What upsets me most about this whole situation is that my assistant was just there doing her job and somehow ended up being verbally harassed and physically assaulted.
“She did absolutely nothing to deserve this treatment, and as someone who was responsible for having her there, I felt especially upset seeing this happen to her.”
