Andy Burnham Says He Will Run to Become Britain’s Next Prime Minister
Andy Burnham, who rejoined the British Parliament after a special election victory, said he would seek the roles of prime minister and Labour Party leader after Keir Starmer announced his resignation from both positions.

“Mr. Burnham, you’re live on BBC News. What’s your reaction to the prime minister’s resignation?” “I made my statement, obviously, praising the prime minister’s dedication, service. And confirm that I will put myself forward in the process that will soon be underway.” “I will do everything I can to ensure an orderly handover of power. I will also give my successor my full and unequivocal support, knowing that they will inherit a Britain that is far stronger and fairer than the one I inherited two years ago.” “I’ve no idea whether it’ll be a contest or a coronation. But what I do know is the British public have simply had enough of political parties chopping and changing their leaders at will.”
