A popular Bali restaurant has been destroyed after a devastating fire tore through Chez Gado Gado in Seminyak on Sunday evening.
Reports and videos of the dramatic blaze began circulating on social media on Sunday evening, with witnesses describing scenes of panic as flames rapidly engulfed the popular venue.
A Perth woman visiting the island said she was left “absolutely terrified” after escaping the restaurant moments before it was consumed by fire.
She claimed a helium balloon exploded shortly before the blaze took hold.
“Sitting at Gado Gado waiting for our table when a helium balloon exploded and literally within seconds the whole place was on fire,” she said.

“We just ran. Managed to get out through a back door and honestly, a few seconds longer and I don’t even want to think about what could have happened.
“Still shaking writing this. The restaurant was packed and I’m just praying everyone managed to get out safely. Absolutely terrifying.”
The cause of the fire and whether anyone was injured is unconfirmed.
