Meghan Markle has come under fire from Queen Camilla after she ‘broke’ a critical rule during her visit to the UK with Prince Harry earlier this month.
Meghan and Harry, along with their children Archie, seven, and five-year-old Lilibet, met with Prince Charles and Queen Camilla during their holiday.
It is believed Charles and Camilla required that no photographs were released of the reunion, to prevent media fanfare of the predictably sensitive meeting.
However, reports suggest Meghan may have breached the requirement by posting a ‘summer holiday’ photo dump on her Instagram, which has left Camilla upset, according to New Idea.
Meghan posted the photo carousel on Friday, including a photo of Prince Harry and Archie holding large bouquets, with Lilibet trailing behind.
The photo is believed to be on the Althorp Estate, where Harry’s late mother Princess Diana is buried — although not on the private island where the Princess’s grave site is located.
“Camilla’s words appear to have fallen on deaf ears,” a royal source told New Idea.
“She feels that she was clear about no social media posts and if Meghan thinks Althorp was an exception, she was very wrong.”
The breach has also driven a wedge between Charles and Prince William, according to the source — the visit left the King “extremely disappointed” in both of his sons.
“(King Charles) was told by everyone, including William, that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be able to keep their traps shut, but he still opened up the doors for this reunion,” the source said.
“He wants Harry back home where he belongs, but this isn’t the Harry he once knew.”
It is believed Camilla had previously warned Meghan against sharing anything about their visit to her in-laws, leaving royal insiders wondering if the Instagram post has permanently jeopardised their relationship.
“(Camilla) made it clear that (the visit) was for Archie and Lilibet, but if there were any leaks about their meeting, the door would be closed forever,” a source said.
“The family doubts that Meghan will be able to stick to this agreement, but Harry and Meghan are well aware this is a ‘test of their loyalties’, and if they wish to continue being Royals, it has to be in the King’s interests.”
