Police are responding to a freak crash in Kelmscott where an object became dislodged from a trailer and struck a pedestrian, leaving her with serious injuries.
Paramedics responded to the incident that injured a 53-year-old woman on Third Avenue 2.30pm on Wednesday.
A WA Police spokeswoman said a white Toyota HiLux tray-top utility was towing a trailer when part of its load became dislodged and struck the woman.
The pedestrian was seriously injured at the junction of Third Avenue and Kidbroke Place. She was transported to Royal Perth Hospital and her condition is unknown.
Police said the 25-year-old male driver of the Toyota was assisting officers from the major crash investigation section with their inquiries.

It is understood police are investigating what caused the object to become dislodged.
The vehicle was travelling north-east on Third Avenue at the time of the incident. The area has been cordoned off by police.
